You see, I bought these shot glasses at Goodwill the other day, in the hopes of at some point etching something cool onto them.

Well, I’ve been in a very Star Trek mood lately, so I decided to etch some combadge logos onto them.

Because of the small nature of shotglasses, I had to freehand them. I did my usual scotch taping first, then drew on them in pencil ’til I got the shape more or less right before cutting out the tape.

There’s a few imperfections here and there where the cream snuck under the tape, but oh well. I still like how they came out.

It might look a little uneven, because it’s been in Q-snaps for weeks, but that’ll get straightened out when I finish it, no worries. :#

So I snapped a few pictures, and thought I’d put them up. Maybe you guys can make me feel bad enough about them to actually get around to finishing them. Most of them aren’t as ‘nerdy’ as my usual works, which is probably why I get distracted. Regardless, here they are:

Most of you are familiar with the Mighty Samurai by now, if you’ve looked into my older entries at all. Here’s a more recent progress pic to prove that I do work on him… occasionally.

I started this with the eventual goal of gifting it to my ex’s mother. She liked angels. Whatever. Problem is, when working on the wing, I used 2 strands of a color rather than 1 as instructed, and now I’m out of that color with still a whole chunk of wing to go. However, the DMC equivalents are not listed, so short of going through my ridiculous amount of thread trying to color match… this isn’t getting done any time soon.

I started this while pregnant. I actually LOST it for a long time, and uncovered it some 3 years later while moving. Mind you, I don’t have custody/contact with my son, so working on this gets pretty… depressing. Doubt this one is getting completed anytime soon either.

I… don’t even know what this is supposed to be. I found a printed pattern along with it, but no image of what it’ll look like when completed. Mystery stitch?

This was a pattern of Gourry Gabriev from a sprite in the Slayers video game. Gourry is holding a fork and knife and looking rather excited about whatever’s in front of him. I don’t know where the pattern I made went, so I’ll have to track down the sprite and start color matching again in order to continue this.

This was another one I started shortly after my son was born, and worked on it constantly while he watched Blues Clues. Any time I start to work on it, I get random Blues Clues songs stuck in my head. It’s just awkward. Art by Selina Fenech, pattern by HAED.

Another HAED stitch. I admired Sara Butcher‘s art for a long time, before finally deciding on a ‘mini’ stitch to work on. If you haven’t heard of her, check out her site. Her art is absolutely amazing.

WIPs aside, I found a fair pile of kits and patterns that I’ve never even started. Not pictured is a fairly thick pile of pattern books.

No matter what, though. Even if I somehow managed to work through all I have pictured above, the fact remains that I have a ridiculously large folder of patterns saved from the internet to work on. Even when considering that some patterns in there take up multiple files (when saved as several images, rather than a pdf), that’s a LOT of patterns.
The folders were made to divide them into categories so I could find what I was looking for easier. It doesn’t make it easy at all, though. There’s a bunch of HAED patterns in there, some Teresa Wentzler, Mirabilia, Chatelaine designs, more freebie patterns than you’ve probably ever seen in one place, and some patterns that I no longer know where I got them from to begin with.

So there you have it. I could stitch all day, every day, for the rest of my life without running out of patterns..
Somehow, I don’t think I’d run out of material, either:

Second; my current stitching project is coming along nicely, and I should have that done in a week or so.

Last; I found another closet project that I’ll likely never get around to finishing, but would like to show you regardless.

So! Long story short, a friend of mine enjoys woodburning. She makes a lot of neat/awesome things. One day, a couple of us bought some random wood from the craft store and decided to try it. Several blisters later, I had one side of a portal companion cube done.

That being said, I probably won’t get around to doing the other 5 sides, or finishing it. But it still kinda looks cool on my shelf. Maybe I’ll end up just painting it so it doesn’t look horribly unfinished. Who knows?

But I’ve been temporarily distracted with some costuming. I found a plain blue dress that simply needed to be modified into a Star Trek Original Series style dress. The bottom doesn’t have quite the same flow as the original Star Trek dresses, but I think I’ll survive.

My first task was to sew on some rank. It’s actually two different ribbons carefully sewn together and onto the sleeve. By hand. Thus why it’s a little uneven. Regardless, It looks good. So far I’ve only done one sleeve. And I’m still debating whether to go back and promote myself to commander. It takes a lot of work to sew on. >.< And I certainly don’t know how I’d do the dashed line of Lieutenant Commander without driving myself insane.

We’ll see what happens when I finish the line on the other sleeve.
